Forest Education Symposium for Teachers
Hosted by Evans Lake Forest Education Centre
Provincial Pro-D Day.
The Forest Education Symposium for Teachers (FEST) will educate teachers and administrators on creating or enriching forest education programs at their schools. Attendees will receive a program package of educational resources with suggested activities and locations; a chart linking the activities to Prescribed Learning Outcomes (PLO's), lunch and return transportation from Vancouver.
The one-day symposium will include a workshop, demonstrations of forest education modules, a roundtable about forest management, and an introduction of the Western Canada SFI Certification Implementation Committee.
While the content primarily focuses on Grades 6-8, the activities can be easily modified to suit other ages and ability levels.

Evans Lake Forest Education Society
The Evans Lake Forest Education Society is a non-profit, charitable organization with a mandate to offer forest education programs at Evans Lake Forest Education Centre. Since 1960 Evans Lake has been a destination for campers seeking programs with a difference.
Each year Evans Lake offers a full summer camp program with sessions for campers aged 8-12, 10-14 and 13-16 years, as well as Leadership Training Camps and wilderness based Outdoor Adventure Kamps (OAK).
Evans Lake is located 15 kilometres North of Squamish, BC on a picturesque mountain lake. Surrounded by forest, the Centre offers a feeling of wilderness seclusion but features all basic amenities.The Centre is also open year-round and available for school field trips, family events and private bookings. Rentals include full catering and accommodation for 100+.
